A6 in Stockport closed as police deal with “serious road traffic collision”

A busy Stockport road has been partially closed tonight following a serious road traffic collision.

London Road, in Hazel Grove, Stockport, was closed in both directions between Torkington Road and Lever Street just after 10pm on Friday.

The road is closed due to a “serious RTC”, according to High Peak Live.

Motorists are being advised to avoid this area and use an alternative route.

Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted: “ROAD CLOSURE

“A6 London Road between Torkington Road and Lever Street in both directions

“On-going Police Incident.

“Please avoid this area or take alternative route where possible

“Local bus services 192 & 199 are on diversion.”

High Peak Live tweeted: “Skyline 199-There has been a serious RTC in Hazel Grove, which has closed the A6.

“Our services are diverting via Jacksons Lane & Fiveways, which means that we are unable to serve the bus stops at Commercial Road and Civic Hall.”
