Manchester United are unsurprisingly planning to make Jadon Sancho their new No.7 should they sign the Borussia Dortmund winger, according to reports.
Sancho is United’s top transfer target this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to add his quality, pace and cutting edge to his already exciting attacking ranks.
MEN Sport understands United are long-term admirers of the 20-year-old and twice failed in attempts to sign him in the past, firstly when he left Manchester City for Germany in 2017 and again last summer.
United were confident of finally getting their man this year but doubts have now been cast on the move, as United are prepared to walk away from the transfer if Dortmund don’t lower their ‘unrealistic’ demands.
Dortmund have set a deadline of August 10 for any transfer to be completed to avoid interruptions of their pre-season preparations, but United view that deadline as ‘meaningless’ as the transfer window doesn’t close until October 5.

It looks certain that the saga will rumble on throughout the window but, according to The Athletic, Solskjaer is already planning on how he could utilise the England international.
While it’s a given that Sancho will predominantly play on the right of United’s front three, it’s claimed that the Norwegian is also considering using him on the left flank as he could be effective cutting inside on his right foot.
Meanwhile, Sancho has already joined a United WhatsApp group ahead of his proposed transfer, it is claimed.
The Transfer Window Podcast report that Sancho expects a move to go through, despite the posturing between the clubs, and is already in conversation with several possible future teammates.
