Two men in hospital after armed police scrambled to ‘violent disturbance’

Two men are in hospital after armed police were scrambled to reports of a ‘violent disturbance’ in Bolton.

Officers attended the scene after receiving ‘numerous’ reports of an incident just before 10pm on Saturday evening.

A large cordon and a dispersal order remains in place this evening in the Blair lane area of Bolton.

Police said a number of arrests had been made at several locations including Aldercroft Avenue and New Lane.

Pictures taken at the scene showed a large police presence including armed officers, some of whom were pointing their weapons at a house.

One concerned resident claimed that a number of people had been ‘stabbed with machetes and axes’.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that two people were injured. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A spokesperson for GMP said tonight: “Specialist officers remain in the area carrying out extensive enquiries with the support of the police helicopter and dogs and cordons remain in place.”

“A dispersal order is currently in place for the immediate area but there is not believed to be any wider threat to the community.”
